Harriet has been a massage client of Susie Pines for twelve years. She came to rely on massage therapy once or twice per week as a way of managing her pain since diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the age of fifty. She also participates in water aerobics to keep her body moving during difficult bouts of chronic pain. With the encouragement of Susie, she branched out into Pilates and found it incredibly helpful in “relieving some of my pain and stiffness”. Since beginning her workouts at Swan Dive,Harriet’s core is a lot stronger and she has seen wonderful improvements in her posture. Harriet says “I’m in better physical shape than a lot of my friends who are my age!”
About four years ago, Harriet underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. Doing Pilates “prepared me for rotator cuff surgery by keeping the shoulder flexible. I didn’t lose any mobility and it helped me recover astronomically quickly.” Harriet’s recovery was cut to a third of the expected time that her doctors had given her for her age and the type of surgery she had.
“Not the Hundreds, probably Footwork or anything with the legs.
I also love working out in a semi private Pilates session with my daughter.”
